4 月9日，CNN节目主持人卡弗蒂竟然恶毒攻击中国人民，妄称“在过去50年里中国人基本上一直是一帮暴民和匪徒”。对此，中方多次严正要求CNN严肃对待这一问题，立即停止、收回恶劣言论，并向13亿中国人民做出真诚道歉，国际社会也向CNN施加了舆论压力。但CNN却依然厚着脸皮说话，诡称卡弗蒂表达的是他对中国政府的看法，而非针对中国人民。此举再次激起中国人民的强烈愤慨。
